About Biofuels

Biofuels are a cleaner-burning mix of traditional petroleum-based fuel and a fuel product made from renewable feedstock resources; ours is a second generation biofuel called WVO.

Our WVO

In an ongoing effort to reduce our carbon footprint and to honor our pledge to the Seacoast Local 10% Shift, Simply Green's biofuel is now sourced locally! We have recently partnered with Salem, NH based Atlantic Biodiesel and a portion of the crude bio that they pick up and further refine comes from Smart Fuel located in Seabrook, NH. Atlantic Biofuels' product comes from locally sourced restaurant waste vegetable oil (WVO) also known as a second generation biofuel. WVO is the key to a local, sustainable, more efficient fuel that allows all of us to decrease our dependency on foreign oil. This is the main ingredient in the production of our BioHeat®. We have a little saying around here… “You Are What You Heat”!

Past Feedstocks

Our Soy

Our soybean oil comes from sustainable farms in the Midwest. These farms grow soybeans for the pharmaceutical and glycerin industries. The byproduct of their natural processes is soybean oil which is then shipped to New England via rail. Simply Green does not support feedstocks that contribute to the food-for-fuel issue.

Our Tallow

Our tallow comes from Quebec and is shipped to New England via rail. While we thoroughly support products made in the USA we also support sustainability. We create less of a carbon footprint by getting this tallow from a more local supplier. Tallow is the virgin form of animal fat. All of the meat that you purchase from the grocery store is trimmed prior to packaging. This excess fat that was once considered to be a waste product is now being used to create a very efficient alternative fuel.

Our pledge is to constantly seek out local, viable, non-food-for-fuel feedstock options that meet our high standards. Because of this, we may change feedstock options as they become more accessible and meet all ASTM and BQ9000 certifications.
