About Our Heating Oil

If you're heating your house with oil right now, you could be using BioHeat® tomorrow without changing a thing in your furnace. No equipment changeover, you just need a new company delivering a greener fuel to your tank the same day.

Because BioHeat® is #2 heating oil combined with biofuel, there are no system modifications need to be made. And, better yet, using BioHeat® can reduce your oil consumption by 5%!

Now, you're probably thinking, "Greener fuel with no changes to my system at the same price? Why isn’t everyone doing it?"

Funny. We were just thinking the same thing.

Feedstocks

Our biofuels are as locally sourced from waste vegetable oil (WVO). Typically, WVO is collected as recycled vegetable oils from restaurants and distributors. Once it's refined, into a "petroleum-like" fuel, we can combine that with traditional petroleum products to make biofuel blends. If local sources are unavailable, Simply Green uses the best and most renewable resources as possible to blend such as sustainable soy or tallow.

Blends

  • B5 - This blend is our flagship product and each customer begins his or her Biofuel experience with it. B5 is a blend of 5% biofuel and 95% #2 heating oil and has received accreditation from ASTM International Main Committee as well as the National Oilheat Research Association (NORA) as being a viable option to #2 heating oil. By using B5 you will be reducing your CO2 emissions by 3.92% or the equivalent of planting 52 smaller trees.
  • B20 - This blend contains 20% biofuel and 80% #2 heating oil. Those who are interested in reducing their CO2 emissions even more may choose to increase to B20 after running B5 for a sufficient amount of time (determined on a case-by-case basis). B5 must be used prior to increasing B20 in order to prevent any potential filter clogging issues. By using B20 you will be reducing your CO2 emissions by 15.69% or the equivalent of planting 192 smaller trees.
  • B100 - In its purest form, biofuel is a highly solvent product that breaks down any petroleum residue (a.k.a. sludge) that has built up in a system over time. The sludge breaks down into a fine particulate matter that will not clog filters at the 5% ratio. Basically, BioHeat® is cleaning up petroleum's messy background, and for the longevity of your system as well as its performance, BioHeat® is the clear choice.

Every system manufacturer has endorsed the use of B5 in their products. Once B5 has been run for a sufficient amount of time (typically after a couple deliveries, but determined case-by-case basis) you may "bump up" to a B20 blend.
